2025 Projects
Here are my creative projects for 2025, some underway and some in the ideas stage. Expect updates in this newsletter.
Am I biting off more than I can chew? Yes! Does having a long list of projects excite me? Absolutely, 100%.
Quilting + Sewing
Spring/Summer Wall Hanging - The winter wreath wall hanging I made last year is displayed in our family room and I’d love to make a wall hanging for warmer weather. Otherwise, the winter wreath may be up all year round!
One New Quilt for the House
Christmas Wreath - This will be my fifth time making this wall hanging and I’m thinking this is now an annual tradition.
Clothes! - I’d love to dip my toes into the world of garments. It’s truly a whole new world. There’s so much to learn, but right now I feel jazzed about trying it on for size (pun intended). Two projects on my list right now are PJs and a dress for my daughter to wear to her 1st birthday party.
Craftivism - Given the state of the world, I’m interested in bringing some activism into my crafting. Unsure what that will look like. Maybe I’ll donate a quilt as an auction item? TBD.
Writing
This year, I’m diving into the query trenches with picture books and will also continue to draft, revise, and re-revise new manuscripts.
My scary goal: I want to pull out my middle grade manuscript, break it down, and build it back up. I really need to add some story structure and make a crime-solving corkboard to tighten my own plot.
Continue to write humor pieces in the style of McSweeney’s, Belladonna Comedy, and Shouts and Murmur. I also have an idea for a gift/humor book about consumerism bouncing around, so I want to work on a proposal.
Crafts
Felt Banners - I bought banners last year and they are sitting in my closet, untouched. I’d like to make some fun banners.
Upcycled denim happy birthday - I’ve been following a lot of crafty upcyclers on social media and feeling inspired watching people turn unwanted curtains into adorable dresses. Very Maria von Trapp vibes. I’m also seeing this style of ‘happy birthday’ banner everywhere and want to make one out of old denim jeans.
